I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering of ETH Zürich hosted by Prof. Dr. Niko Beerenwinkel. In July 2024 I received my doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat., summa cum laude) from Saarland University for my PhD thesis 'Machine learning-based anti-cancer drug treatment optimization' supervised by Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Lenhof (incidental name similarity). In my research, I am particularly interested in the development of novel and trustworthy machine learning (ML) algorithms and approaches for drug sensitivity prediction and biomarker discovery in cancer. Recently, I have broadened the scope of my research to encompass the societal dimensions of ML-based decision support systems for personalized medicine, particularly in terms of trustworthiness and actual trust in these systems. Ensuring the lawful, ethical, and robust implementation and use of these systems is not just a scientific challenge for me but a societal imperative! If you are interested in my research, take a look at my Google Scholar or ResearchSquare profile, or just drop me an email. During my leisure time, I regularly cook (and eat) delicious food, and I am interested in creating art.
